Over the Shoulder education is a truly unique way of observing techniques, learning protocols, participating in treatment planning and questioning the educator in an intimate environment of approximately 15 other clinicians in a study group format.

This case below is just one of the two patients, that was a patient selected for demonstration and the results were outstanding. Nico, 17 year old patient, presented with unsatisfactory post-ortho results. After fracturing teeth #8 and #9 in a skateboarding accident, composite bonding was a stop gap measure simply to replace the missing tooth structure. Nico was unhappy with the shape and length of his teeth, with the resulting spaces that were left after his orthodontia was removed. His parents indicated that they wanted a long lasting but conservative restorative solution that would correct the aesthetic issues while also creating a stronger and longer lasting restoration for the centrals.

After, the comprehensive examination and development of a treatment plan that met all of the patient’s goals, Dr. David Hornbrook completed preparatory and provisionalization work in his private practice two weeks prior to the course. During the live demonstration, each attendee was able to examine the pre-op condition of Nico’s case through photographs and models. Potential treatment plans were discussed prior to Dr. Hornbrook indicating his final treatment plan which consisted of Gold Dust’s Aesthetic Team fabricating a combination of no prep Emprethin veneers on #4,5,6, 11, 12 & 13 and traditionally prepared teeth utilizing ¾ coverage Empress #7 - #10 . Attendees were then able to observe and discuss the case while Dr. Hornbrook and his assistant Danielle, removed the temporaries and studied resulting prep design. Dr. Hornbrook shared his secrets first hand to successful and predictable bonding steps to achieve an ideal result.
